Product Spotlight

Wireless Fiber Photometry System

With the Wireless Fiber Photometry System , study the neural populations underlying social behaviors in freely-moving animals. The Doric headstage is the only commercial system that includes both isosbestic and 470 nm excitation. Record from multiple interacting animals for over 4 hours*.

Scientific Highlights

Distinct basal forebrain-originated neural circuits promote homoeostatic feeding and suppress hedonic feeding in male mice

Liu et al. — Nature Metabolism (2024)

Using Doric Miniaturized Fluorescence Microscopy , Liu et al. identified two basal forebrain neuron populations that differentially regulate feeding. Projections to the PVH promote homoeostatic feeding, while projections to the LH are activated by sensory pleasure.

Basal forebrain feeding circuits

Stress integration by an ascending adrenergic-melanocortin circuit

Laule et al. — Neuropharmacology (2024)

Using the Bundle Fiber Photometry System , Laule et al. showed that acute stress activates catecholaminergic projections to the paraventricular hypothalamus, suppressing feeding through MC4R-expressing neurons.

In vivo recording from calcitonin receptor-expressing neurons in the medial preoptic area during affiliative social behaviors

Fukumitsu et al. — Neuroscience Research (2025)

Using a Doric Basic Fiber Photometry System , researchers showed that MPOACalcr+ neurons are selectively activated during motivated social interactions, including pup-directed behavior.
