  • Rotary Bundle-imaging fiber photometry (RBFMC-G2) is an elegant alternative for long-term, multiple-site recordings in freely-moving animals. This CMOS-based photometry system is fixed onto the motorized rotary joint, allowing signal detection during the rotation. This design completely abolishes rotation artifacts and is ideal for recording subtle signals from sparse neural populations and/or from axons.

Both Fan-out and High-density bundle patch cords are interchangeably compatible with the Sample port of the same RBFMC-G2. The Fan-out option is designed for multiple distant brain regions, each fitted with Mono Fiber-optic cannula, while the High-density type is designed for High-density cannulas.

    RBFMC-G2 configurations:
    1. Two-color photometry (Green & Red + isosbestic)
    2. One-color photometry (Green + isosbestic) with red-shifted optogenetics (a single red LED (wavelength) illuminates all the photometry sites, simultaneously)

Note: it is possible to swap between the two configurations by changing the optical mini cube connected to the rotary joint.

In addition, both RBFMC-G2 configurations are compatible with an additional optogenetic site. This option mounts a laser (one of 6 wavelength options) on the outside of the optical cube for optogenetic stimulation on non-photometry sites.

RBFMC-G2 also has an HDMI port to record electrophysiological signals from the animal with Doric's electrophysiology consoles (EPC, NC500). It is also possible to purchase an adaptor for common electrophysiology systems (Intan, Neuropixel, etc.). Thus, with this state-of-the-art system, users can simultaneously record multi-site photometry, optogenetics, and electrophysiology signals from the same, freely-moving animal.
