Optoelectrophysiology

Combining optogenetics with electrophysiological recordings requires means to deliver optical signals to the point of interest within the neural tissue and detect and process electrical spikes from neural activity. In vitro or in vivo head-fixed experiments start with optoelectric probes. For behaving animals, the starting point is the chronically implanted optoelectric cannula with tethered and wireless/fiberless options.
